1. Who is Philamlife's
overseas Filipino worker (OFW) customer?
Anyone of Filipino
citizenship or Filipino descent, currently working or living abroad,
including his immediate family members like his spouse, children, siblings
or parents.
2. What is the
importance of life insurance to the OFW?
Life insurance means
protection and security, not just for yourself but for your family as
well. It safeguards your future by providing financial stability at
times of uncertainty. It is especially important for OFWs like you because
job security, separation from your family and living in a totally new
environment are major concerns. Life insurance gives you peace of mind.

4. Can I apply
abroad?
All applications
for a Philamlife policy must be solicited and signed in the Philippines.
However, subsequent requirements, if any, may be signed abroad.
5. What requirements
are needed for OFW applicants?
In most cases, the
requirements for OFW applicants are the same for non-OFW applicants.
However, on a case-to-case basis, additional requirements may be asked
of you such as the work contract & passport, to name a few.
6. What plans can
I buy?
All plans and its
applicable riders may be offered to OFW applicants, subject to certain
underwriting guidelines and conditions.
7. Will the OFW's
destination country of work and/or residence abroad affect the acceptability
of his application?
The OFW's destination
country of work and/or residence abroad is a factor in the acceptability
of his application. Destination countries faced with political unrest
and instability are usually unacceptable. However, there are still other
factors that affect the acceptability of the application for insurance
and approval varies on a case-to-case basis.
8. Can I sign
the application in the Philippines and remit the first premium payment
from abroad?
Signing the application
without the first premium payment or deposit can be done. However, paying
the initial premium or deposit together with the submission of your
application guarantees you protection until such time that the application
is approved and the policy made effective. Furthermore, it is best to
pay the initial premium or deposit directly to Philamlife or any of
its authorized representatives in the Philippines so that the policy
may readily be made effective upon approval. Succeeding premium payments
can then be made abroad.
9. Where can I
pay my succeeding premiums while I'm abroad?
Succeeding premium
payments can be made abroad through any bank or remittance facility
accepting remittances or money transfers to the Philippines.
10. What information
needs to be written in the remittance form?
- Name of Remitter
- Name of Insured
- Policy Number
- That the beneficiary/recipient of the remittance is PHILAMLIFE
- That the remittance is a premium payment
- That the remittance should be credited to Philamlife's PHILAM BANK
Account No. 2704-00011-1 at the UN Branch, United Nations Ave., Ermita,
Manila for US DOLLAR PAYMENTS OR to EQUITABLE-PCI BANK Savings Account
No. 1359-00054-1 at the Luneta Branch, Kalaw Avenue, Ermita, Manila
for PESO PAYMENTS.
Please take note
that a photocopy of the remittance form must immediately be sent to
Philamlife so that your premium payment may be traced. This is to prevent
the possibility of lapsation of your policy.
11. Can I make
changes on my policy even if I am abroad?
Only non-contractual
policy changes can be made in participating AIG servicing offices worldwide,
depending on their level
of authority. Kindly refer to Policy
Owner's Services for more information or contact the OFW
Market Department.
12. What documents
do I need to present/submit when making a policy change?
Depending on the
kind of policy change needed to be done, some document you might need
are: the policy contract, a photocopy of your birth certificate, a photocopy
of your marriage contract, valid identification, death certificate,
citizenship papers, premium notices and receipts. You may also need
to fill up certain forms to facilitate the policy change being made
.
13. Can I convert
my AIA, ALICO or AIG policy from abroad to a Philamlife policy?
Yes, you can have
your AIA, ALICO or AIG policy exchanged or converted into a Philamlife
policy while you are in the Philippines. Philamlife will look for the
plan closest to the coverage and benefits stated in your AIA, ALICO
or AIG policy. Kindly refer to Policy

14. What documents
do I need to present/submit when I exchange/convert my policy?
You will need to
submit a duly-accomplished policy change form from Philamlife, the request
for cash surrender form from the AIA, ALICO or AIG office you purchased
your policy from, your original AIA, ALICO or AIG policy contract and
2 valid identification cards. Remember to inform AIA, ALICO or AIG of
your plan to exchange/convert to a Philamlife policy so that you can
secure the necessary cash surrender form.
15. Can my beneficiaries
or I claim the benefits under my Philamlife policy abroad?
Claims can be made
abroad, depending on the level
of authority of the participating AIG servicing company in the country
where the claim is being made. Only the insured, policy owner and/or
beneficiary/ies can make claim requests. Kindly contact the Claims Department
for more information.
16. What documents
do I need to present/submit when making a claim abroad?
Important documents
such as the policy contract, premium notices, premium receipts and other
papers relating to your Philamlife policy would facilitate and speed
up the claim process.
