iPLAN To Make My Day Productive
1. Make a next day’s to-do list.
The most ideal time to make your to do-list is before going home everyday.
In making your to-do list, you may do it in the form of a calendar schedule. You identify the task and the corresponding time alloted to getting that task done. You may also do a “running” list which you could update every time a new task has been passed on or after a task has just been done.
2. Prioritize.
Here’s the trick. After you have identified your next day’s to do list, identify the most valuable 20 percent. After identifying, devote time and concentration to getting your top priorities done first. In a normal-paced workplace for instance, this could consume all your half day’s time. Once you’ve finished all your priorities, that’s the time that you proceed to the other little tasks.
3. Be flexible.
In making your to-do list, it will be helpful if you only plan 70 percent of your time. In such a way, you have the flexibility to handle interruptions and distractions. Making fallbacks is also helpful. Not only will it keep your to-do list safe, it will also save you from the dilemma of thinking of too much negative assumptions on “what ifs” and the like.
4. Consider your biological prime time.
Identify the time of the day when you are most effective. Making use of your prime time for getting your top priorities done is effective time management.
5. Don’t procrastinate.
Procrastination is the evil at work. Admittingly enough, there are days where you feel lazy to go to work. Or if you do so, you don’t seem as enthusiastic as how you usually are. At times like this, procrastination becomes too difficut to ignore. However, bear in mind that the moment we procrastinate, we end up with a big bulk of load the next day. And there’s no one to finish it off but you. So conquer procrastination. |
